Urban Solutions is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic person who is detail-oriented and interested in helping micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses. The right person will have the opportunity to experience the breadth of the marketing and fund development processes for a small but established San Francisco non-profit organization.
Urban Solutions is a dynamic and productive economic development non-profit that helps low-income small business owners secure financing and helps neighborhoods attract, retain and grow community-serving and job-creating businesses.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Write grant proposals, grant reports and correspondence to funders, including government, foundation and corporate organizations.
- Track donations, maintain funders records in database and hard copy files
- Conduct research on prospective funders
- Help market Urban Solutions’ events, workshops and other news through a variety of channels, including alternative outlets, such as social media and relevant list-serves
- Write press releases and email announcements
- Design flyers, e-announcements and presentations
- Help coordinate our annual special event, the San Francisco Neighborhood Business Awards
- Oversee silent auction coordination for the event
- Write articles for our newsletter and assist with newsletter production
- Network with potential donors and community members
- Help manage upgrades of our website
- Special projects, as needed
Desired Skills and Qualities:
- Strong writing ability with style for analytical as well as narrative expression
- Ability to communicate well with a variety of stakeholders, from youth clients to funders
- Project management skills – ability to follow through with projects on deadlines
- Microsoft Office, particularly with Word and Excel
- Graphic design and website content management skills helpful; knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and DreamWeaver a plus.
- Experience with proposal writing
- Three years work experience
- Congenial attitude and sense of humor
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Competitive salary, full benefits, vacation time and pension plan are provided.
